Pasco County Elementary Students Combine Water, Science and Art in the 15th Annual Water Awareness Poster Contest
Pasco County Utilities and the Florida Governmental Utility Authority (FGUA) is honored to present the 15th Annual Water Awareness Poster Contest results. The program showcases the artistic merit and creativity of students in Pasco County elementary schools. This contest gives Pasco’s young residents a new way to learn about science, water and the environment.
Over 1,300 children participated in this year’s contest, which had entries from public, private and homeschooled students. A total of 17 elementary schools and 43 teachers participated in the program. This year’s theme was “One Water, One Earth,” with topics such as Water Cycle; I Shed, We Shed, Everyone Sheds (Watersheds); Drink Like an Astronaut; and Water Conservation. Every student that submitted a poster did an amazing job bringing science and art together and creating an image that illustrates these main ideas.
Pasco County Utilities and FGUA will visit schools and present awards to winning students before the end of the academic year. Winning posters will be on display this summer at the East and West Government Centers. Winners’ posters will also appear in a full-page advertisement in the Tampa Bay Times as well as on the program website (watercontest.org).
We thank and commemorate all the participating students, and we congratulate all the students who won in the 15th Annual Water Awareness Poster Contest. We also want to thank this year’s sponsors. Without their support, this program would not be possible.
