The FGUA and Pasco County Utilities would like to thank all the students and teachers who participated in our 14th Annual Water Awareness Poster Contest. Additionally, we would like to thank the Pasco County Schools and our participating sponsors for supporting and making our program possible. This year, our program saw participation from 42 teachers across 15 elementary schools, and more than 1,300 posters submitted.
The theme this year was “We Need Water, Water Needs Us,” educating students on fire protection, pollution and water quality, water conservation, and safety around water.
On Tuesday, April 25th, the FGUA and Pasco County Utilities held their Final Judging event at Urban Air Adventure Park located in Port Richey. Posters that made it through Preliminary Judging were moved onto the Final Judging event in which a first, second, and third place winner for each grade level, Kindergarten through Fifth, as well as an Honorable Mention Award from Clearwater Marine Aquarium, were selected.
Awards and Prizes
Winners will be receiving a trophy as well as a variety of prizes donated from Clearwater Marine Aquarium, Lane Glo Bowling, PK’s Play Zone & Grille, Sugar Bomb, The Lift Adventure Park, and Urban Air Adventure Park.
Additionally, every student who submitted a poster for this year’s contest will receive a Certificate of Participation that includes a coupon for a free ice cream cone from Cold Stone Creamery and Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory of Trinity and a free kids meal card from Chick-fil-A of Trinity.
The 14th Annual Water Awareness Poster Contest was a great success. We look forward to awarding all participants with their certificates, and winners with their trophies and prize packages. We will also be placing the winning posters on display in the West Pasco and East Pasco Government Centers this summer, posting the winning posters on the contest website, at watercontest.org, and running a full-page color ad in the Tampa Bay Times!
Contest Winners
Congratulations to the winners, and thank you to our sponsors, teachers, and students for your support and participation!
